24 week doctor's visit, and what's next

i had my 24-week visit yesterday with my midwives. aunt carrie and i had gotten together for coffee beforehand, and so i asked her to join for the appointment, since dave couldn't be there. she found out that she'd hear the heartbeat, and jumped at the chance.

all is well with baby block. he/she is growing steadily, has a very strong heartbeat, and is causing some serious weight-gain. that last part has to be controlled a bit more, not because i've gained too much, but because i had two big jumps in weight in the last two visits. so i'm going to try to watch myself even more -- not that i eat poorly now at all, but there are definitely times that my cravings get the best of me. so i'm going to try to work those situations out for the better.

dave and i have a lot to do from here on out. here's a brief list of what's coming:

- glucose testing for me
- tour of the birthing center at methodist hospital
- meeting with pediatricians
- do birthing sessions with kira (our own little personal instructor -- thanks kira!)
- finish the changes in the office/nursery to make room for the baby furniture

not to mention the rest of the stuff that's going on, like work, other apartment updates, showers coming up, etc. it's crazy! but all good things.

my migraines have returned in the last few days -- hormone fluctuations that i'm always attributing to the growth of the baby. so it's been a bit rough. but other than that, the pregnancy is at a good point, and i'm happy to be feeling baby block so much and having him/her as company during the day.
